A meeting which brought forward some common problems that seafarers encounter abroad was organized at the Turkish Chamber of Shipping on 3 October 2016. During the event, which was led by Mr. Cemalettin ŞEVLİ, the Director General of Shipping under the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, the participants mainly discussed how to deal with the unjust treatment against seafarers and how to provide relief to them under this condition.

At the meeting the subjects below were brought to the agenda:

-The situation regarding the accession to MLC Convention, 2006

-Revision of the Maritime Labour Law with no.854 in accordance with the current requirements.
